Training with Preparation for the VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV 2024) Certification

VMware vSphere is the leading virtualization solution used in data centers and enterprise environments. It consolidates and optimizes hardware resources, simplifies workload management, enhances service availability, and maximizes operational efficiency. With vSphere, multiple operating systems and applications can run simultaneously on a single physical machine through virtual machines (VMs).

This intensive 5-day training will equip you with the skills needed to administer, optimize, and secure a modern, high-performing, and resilient virtual infrastructure. You will learn to implement advanced features of VMware vSphere 8, while exploring best practices and real-world use cases.

By the end of the course, you will be able to efficiently manage a virtualized infrastructure that meets the needs of both small and large organizations. This program also prepares you for the official VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV 2024) certification exam—an essential credential for advancing your IT career.

Day 1 – Virtual Machine (VM) Operations & Replication

  • Understand the role and configuration of the VMware Tools™ repository
  • Identify appropriate backup and restore solutions for VMs
  • Explore the architecture of VMware vSphere® Replication™
  • Deploy and configure vSphere Replication and VMware Site Recovery™
  • Perform recovery of replicated VMs

Day 2 – vSphere Cluster Operations & Resource Management

  • Create and manage resource pools within a cluster
  • Understand how resource scaling and sharing works
  • Explore the roles and functions of vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS)
  • Identify actions that may impact the operation of vCLS VMs

Day 3 – vSphere Networking and Storage

Storage:

  • Learn how vSphere supports NVMe and iSER storage technologies
  • Understand the architecture and configuration of vSAN
  • Grasp the concept of Storage Policy-Based Management (SPBM)
  • Identify the components of VMware vSphere® Virtual Volumes™ (vVols)
  • Configure Storage I/O Control (SIOC)

Day 4 – vCenter, ESXi Operations & Monitoring

vCenter & ESXi:

  • Develop a vCenter backup strategy
  • Leverage vCenter High Availability (VCHA)
  • Use host profiles to standardize ESXi configurations
  • Manage certificates via GUI and CLI tools

Monitoring:

  • Identify key factors affecting VM and vCenter performance

  • Understand the components of VM encryption architecture
  • Create, manage, and migrate encrypted VMs
  • Set up events and alarms related to encryption
  • Discover the benefits and use cases of vSphere Trust Authority

This training is intended for IT professionals with experience in administering or integrating virtualized systems using VMware technologies. It is also ideal for candidates preparing for the official VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV 2024) certification.

Typical profiles:

  • System Administrators
  • System Engineers
  • IT Managers or Chief Information Officers (CIOs)

To fully benefit from the vSphere 8 – Operations, Optimization, and Security training, it is recommended to meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Have substantial experience in administering VMware solutions, particularly vCenter and ESXi, or possess equivalent knowledge gained through hands-on practice.
  • Be proficient in using command-line interfaces, especially within a system or virtualized environment.

By the end of the vSphere 8 – Operations, Optimization, and Security training, you will be able to:

  • Configure and manage a VMware Tools repository to streamline VM deployment;
  • Implement vSphere Replication and perform recovery of replicated virtual machines;
  • Efficiently manage VM resources using resource pools;
  • Configure and administer vSphere networking and storage in large-scale, complex environments;
  • Deploy VMware vCenter Server® High Availability;
  • Use host profiles to ensure compliance across VMware ESXi 8 hosts;
  • Manage certificates through the vSphere Client and command-line interfaces;
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of vCenter, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines via the vSphere Client;
  • Secure the vSphere environment, including vCenter 8, ESXi, and virtual machines;
  • Implement Identity Federation to integrate vCenter with external identity providers;
  • Use VMware vSphere® Trust Authority™ to strengthen the security of an encrypted virtual machine infrastructure;
